Few moments are more uncomfortable for a school leader or employee than being deposed as the Person Most Knowledgeable (PMK) after a safety, security, or emergency incident. Yet this is exactly what happens when schools lack a strong, well-coordinated safety and emergency management program.

When a crisis occurs and civil litigation follows, school leaders and staff are often subpoenaed to testify — and suddenly find themselves answering tough questions as the PMK about policies, procedures, training, and response efforts.
